ShannonGroup Construction has been incorporated since 2017, yet has many happy customers who continue to rely on the services of Mel and Jamie from throughout the past 2 decades, before ShannonGroup Construction became reality. Our relationships with our customers span over multiple years and projects as they come to trust and benefit from the work we have done. We take great pride in building those relationships and making it as flawless a process as possible, keeping your home livable and clean while we bring your ultimate vision to life. Mel and Jane Shannon - Owners
Mel and Jane's story starts back in 1984, with the purchase of their first home in Calgary for $45,000 with a down payment of $5,000 using our Canada Savings Bonds. 3 years later they were presented with the opportunity to buy their parents home in the same neighborhood for $89,000, however, halfway through the deal they backed out. Hindsight is 20/20, their first house today would be worth $300-350,000, and their parents house would be $350-400,000. Our fear originated from a lack of education and that lack ended up with us losing $500,000+. We didn't learn from our mistake, instead we went on with our lives, built careers, up-sized our lifestyles, raised 2 boys to adulthood, always wanting more!
Now, it took them 30 years. 30 years of life experience, 30 years of hard work, 30 years of learning the ins and outs of the working side, Mel, being a ticketed pipe-fitter and licensed home inspector and Jane working in Finance, they are now ready and committed to learn the business side, no more wasted time and energy. Everything from rehab properties, mortgages, to land development, they are going to take everything they have learned and build a legacy along with their 2 boys. Come along for the ride!
Jamie Shannon- Owner
Jamie has learned everything he knows from his parents, obviously, however it has never been more true. He remembers being out in the garage with his dad "working" by wrapping all the tools in tape, being so helpful. As he got older he would ask to follow along on any side-jobs his dad would have, and once a little older than that he would even actually help on those jobs. Come adulthood Jamie has tried a few things, from glass glazing, oil drilling, even following his dads footsteps and going to school for pipe-fitting and believe it or not an office job, however, he never enjoyed those environments the way he always enjoyed working on projects along side his parents. Together they have created beautiful things and its exciting because this is only the beginning!
